Damn Midge never listens to me. I ain’t got an interest in this art. Draggin’ me to this? I just want’a see the folkart again. Tha’s some art right there. Place gonna be filled with tourists. Uppity and full of it. That guys got a phanny pack! That ain’t a look for a man. More skin than… what was that?
I can’t remember how we got home, but Midge was givin’ me a thunderous glare. Says I laughed all the way home and that was a Myng vase. She sighed. Looks like its folkart next time.

Kathy was late. There were only two applicants, her and Bob Fielding. First the absolute jerk refused to share a cab with her downtown. She caught up at the museum but then he wouldn’t hold the elevator. With his camera he looks more like a tourist than someone applying for a museum research position anyhow, she thought angrily. Nice sideburns and uni-brow pal.

Her interview went well, in spite of her tardiness. They’re only being polite, she figured. Then Bob bent over to try and get picture of a vase and Kathy smiled. I think I just got the job.

Would you like to have a go at a 100 word story? Well, head on over to Julia’s Place for the rules and either add your offering in the comments, or do your own post, but don’t forget to either link back to us or let us know in the comments so we can come and read!

  1. I loved both yours this week, good on ya for giving it a go! I always find the picture ones a bit harder, I had an idea, but I kept deleting it, so I gave up! * bows down * B

  2. Love that both your characters are getting their way at the end of not-so-great experiences.
My response to the prompt: http://www.aliciaaudrey.com/blog/100-word-story-worth-a-thousand-notes/

  3. Great take on it gals! I couldn’t find any inspiration to do it myself!

  4. I really like the different takes both of you had, here.

Amber: Nice job on that first-person voice! I could hear that twang so clearly. 🙂
Neeks: I’m a fan of the limited-third voice, myself, and you do a strong one. I especially enjoyed the little twist of fate at the end, even though I knew it was coming. 🙂

    Thanks for sharing!
